Photoelectric sensors operate by an emitter unit producing a beam of modulated light that is detected by a receiver, either free-standing or in the same housing, and sensing action occurs when the beam is broken by an object. Photoelectric Sensors detect photo-optical workpieces. OMRON provides many varieties of Sensor, including diffuse-reflective, through-beam, retro-reflective, and distance-settable Sensors, as well as Sensors with either built-in or separate amplifiers and Fiber Units. Detection occurs when the target crosses the optical axis between sensor head and reflector.
