The Single-Mode Dual-Fiber FC-ST patch cord is designed for high-speed, low-loss optical transmission with dual fibers in a compact 2.0 mm jacket, ideal for telecom, data center, and enterprise networks.

Overview

A single-mode dual-core fiber contains two separate cores within a single cable, allowing simultaneous bidirectional data transmission or redundancy, effectively doubling the data capacity compared to a single-core fiber . Single-mode fibers have a small core diameter, typically around 8–10 µm, which allows light to travel in a single, straight path, minimizing signal loss over long distances . This makes them suitable for long-haul and high-speed network applications.

FC-ST Connectors

The FC-ST connector combination integrates the FC (Ferrule Connector) and ST (Straight Tip) styles. FC connectors are round, metal, screw-threaded, providing high reliability and low return loss, commonly used in telecom and long-distance networks . ST connectors feature a bayonet-style push-and-twist locking mechanism, making them easy to insert and remove while maintaining stable optical performance . The FC-ST hybrid ensures secure connections with minimal signal attenuation, suitable for dense network deployments .

Key Features

  • Dual fibers in a compact 2.0 mm jacket for space-efficient cabling
  • High-speed, low-loss transmission for 1G/10G/40G/100G networks
  • Stable long-term performance for enterprise and data center applications
  • Compatibility with long-distance single-mode standards (e.g., 1310 nm up to 10 km, 1550 nm up to 40 km),

Applications

  • Telecom networks requiring reliable long-distance signal transmission
  • Data centers with high-density fiber deployments
  • Enterprise networks needing dual-channel or redundant optical paths
  • High-speed Ethernet connections (1G–400G) over single-mode fiber

Advantages

  • Increased data throughput due to dual-core design
  • Reduced signal loss over long distances
  • Compact and flexible for dense cabling environments
  • Durable connectors with low insertion and return loss This type of patch cord is ideal for scenarios where high reliability, long-distance transmission, and dual-channel capability are required, making it a versatile choice for modern optical networks .
