OM5 optical cables are wideband multimode fibers designed for high-speed data transmission, supporting SWDM applications and certified to TIA, ISO/IEC, and IEC standards.

Overview

OM5 is the latest generation of multimode fiber (MMF), also known as wideband multimode fiber (WBMMF). It is designed to support Short Wavelength Division Multiplexing (SWDM), allowing multiple wavelengths (850–953 nm) to transmit simultaneously over a single fiber, which significantly increases bandwidth and reduces the number of fibers required for high-speed connections in data centers and enterprise networks . OM5 cables are backward compatible with OM4 and OM3 fibers, ensuring smooth integration into existing multimode networks .
