  • Armoring: Depending on application, cables may have metallic armoring (steel wires or tapes) for grounding and mechanical protection, or dielectric armoring for lightweight, non-conductive designs .
  • Additional coatings: Some cables include water-blocking gels or tapes to prevent moisture ingress, and UV-stabilized outer jackets for outdoor exposure .

Traction optical cables are often used in railway, mining, or industrial environments, where they must resist tensile stress, bending, temperature variations, and UV exposure.
