Bolted Busbar Connections

The bolts are tightened to create both electrical and mechanical continuity, ensuring low resistance and reliable current flow. Bolted connections are widely used in switchboards, distribution panels, transformers, and control systems due to their adaptability and ease of maintenance. They allow for quick assembly, easy serviceability, and future expansion, as additional busbar sections can be added without specialized tools or welding equipment. Proper torque is critical to maintain contact pressure and minimize electrical resistance at the joint .

Welded Busbar Connections

Welded connections provide a permanent, low-resistance joint by fusing busbar surfaces together. This method is often used in high-current or critical applications where maximum electrical conductivity and mechanical strength are required. While welding offers excellent performance, it is less flexible for maintenance or future modifications compared to bolted connections, and requires skilled labor and specialized equipment .
